NORTH KOREA: HERE'S OUR REAL   TARGETS!

Big missle threat from N. Korea is in the news this week.
Is it that they are SO-O-o bad ... or is it that our military contractors have lied since the Reagan era about their magical intercontinental missle defence system???

Maybe contractors raking in billions never really   thought their wares would be put to the test.
If that's the case - we're screwed!

Here are a FEW ITEMS to consider:

The rigged missile defense test
July 31, 2001 - The Pentagon and the Bush administration are determined to sell the American people a national missile defense system that will probably increase tensions with allies and adversaries and will surely cost more than $100 billion. Their latest marketing exercise took place on the evening of July 14, when a "kill vehicle" launched from the Kwajalein Atoll in the Pacific smashed into a rocket sent up from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

Precisely according to plan, the target was instantly vaporized on impact -- and along with it, or so the Pentagon's uniformed salesmen hoped, the perennial concern that missile defense won't work. With the cooperation of major news organizations and conservative pundits, that test provided an enormous propaganda boost to the Bush proposal, which conveniently enough had been brought up to Capitol Hill by Defense Department officials just two days earlier.

There was only one thing that all the happy salesmen forgot to mention about their latest test drive. The rocket fired from Vandenberg was carrying a global positioning satellite beacon that guided the kill vehicle toward it. In other words, it would be fair to say that the $100 million test was rigged.

US missle defence test dodges decoys

(A)n expert contacted by New Scientist questioned the validity of recent tests. Ted Postol, a physicist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an ex-military scientist, says all the latest tests have involved only easy-to-spot decoys.

He says that after the first two tests revealed an inability to identify more advanced decoys reliably, they were replaced to prevent failure. "They're completely rigged, quite frankly," he says.

U.S. Missile Defense Test Fails

Missile Defense: Growing Concerns and Costs

Missile defense tests conducted thus far have not demonstrated that the system would work under real world conditions and scenarios. Not all the tests have intercepted the target and none have used sophisticated countermeasures sure to be part of a real missile attack. There are also reports that some of the tests have been rigged and their successes exaggerated. One report by the Union of Concerned Scientists, and another by the GAO, show the testing regime for missile defense is at best suspect.3

Holes in the Missile Shield

...despite the more than $80 billion spent by the U.S. on missile defense since 1985, this system will not provide significant protection for many years, if ever. The political pressure to claim that the U.S. is secure against a rogue nation's attack has led to a defense that will not counter even the earliest threats from the emerging missile powers.
